Smart Industry's Crystal Ball 2025 Report: A look into manufacturing technology
Welcome to Smart Industry's annual Crystall Ball Report, our collection of expert opinions on what to expect in the new year. And, they're going to be wrong—some of them at least. Prognosticating isn't an exact science. I boldly predicted that 2020 was going to be the sixth consecutive year of more than 17 million new auto sales in the U.S., explaining to readers at a different publication that pessimism from various economists was likely unfounded. Actual sales that year came in at 14.6 million. I hadn't accounted for a novel coronavirus shutting down the industry for several months.
My colleauge, Smart Industry's managing editor, Scott Achelpohl, wrote or arranged the material for this special section, putting a strong emphasis on critical topics such as cybersecurity, AI, automation and other technologies that will likely trend in the new year.
