DDS: the Right Middleware for the Industrial Internet of Things?

March 9, 2015

The emergence of smart machines is forming an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) that connects devices into truly intelligent distributed systems. The Data Distribution Service (DDS) networking standard helps build full sensor-to-cloud integrated systems that connect operational systems with cloud analytics. This system-wide integration is the key to enabling the IIoT.

In this white paper, RTI describes how DDS powers real-world IIoT applications in medicine, transportation, energy, SCADA and more, and shows that it is capable of building full “sensor-to-cloud” integrated systems that connect operational systems with cloud analytics. This type of system-wide integration is the key to enabling the IIoT.
