Honeywell today announced that it will supply an integrated solutions platform to ensure the safety and security of a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. The FPSO is being engineered and constructed by MODEC Inc., a provider of floating solutions for the global offshore oil-and-gas industry.
As MODEC strives to improve overall safety and security performance, it requires reliable, integrated solutions for security and intrusion detection with a single user interface. With the Honeywell solutions, operators will be able to automate the entire emergency mustering process and reduce the duration of mustering from hours to minutes. In addition, radar video surveillance solutions will enable operators to receive early warning alerts in the event of any intrusion activity so they can secure the FPSO against unauthorized access, according to Honeywell.
“Honeywell offers a comprehensive set of solutions designed to protect people and facilities, including an integrated safety and security platform developed specifically for the requirements of the oil and gas industry,” said Tom Garbee, project manager for MV34, MODEC. "As operating companies have greater reliance on critical production resources such as FPSOs, managing them efficiently while reducing risk to workers will become increasingly important."
The new FPSO will have a daily processing capacity of 90,000 barrels of crude oil, 75 million cubic feet of gas and 120,000 barrels of water injection, with a storage capacity of 700,000 barrels of crude oil.
"This project is a great example of how our customers can protect critical assets at offshore production facilities with the help of Honeywell’s technology and experience," said Pramesh Maheshwari, vice president and general manager of Honeywell Process Solutions’ Project and Automation Solutions business. “The FPSO project with MODEC demonstrates our extensive product portfolio, proven integration know-how, broad global presence and innovative project execution capabilities.”
